Where Do You Re-Invest Your Money?-123

19 May 2015 by

That’s the question for today. I’m not talking about financial investment and all that malarkey and stock markets. What I mean is, do you ever invest any of your money in you? Yes, you my wonderful owner.

A lot of people don’t even think about such a thing. They think, “I’m done. I know it all. I’ve got it.  I’ve got it down pat.  Can’t teach me anything else.  I’m good to go”.

Those people do not grow.  They do not move forward.  They stay where they are and eventually they start to wither and die.  Well, we’re all going to die eventually obviously.  Even me.  But what I mean is, their businesses do not progress.

You have to invest.  And not just you.  If you have staff, they deserve it too.

Better trained people are just better, and that includes you. So what can you do?

Training Courses

You can take training courses in the skills that you need for your particular vocation or trade.  You can take training courses in running a business.  Who has ever done that?  For those on the audio, I’ve got my hand up. But yeah, it sounds kind of boring but if you’re going to run a business, why not find out how to do it?

Of course, there’s things like marketing for instance, If you go to the marketingforowners.com/join, then you can join the Owners Club.  Registration is free and the difference between that and just looking at the blog, is this —  quite a few posts that are for owners only and for members only.

And we call our members owners.

Inserting a coin into a piggy bank

But there are things like cheat sheets and downloads and reports that, as a non-member, you wouldn’t even see or if you’re going to get them, you’re going to have to sign up every time.  So it’s worth it.  But here we teach a marketing system.

It’s the simple system of the 5P’s where we go through —

  • presence
  • potential
  • permission
  • purchase
  • preacher

Why not try that?  It’s free.  A lot of the online training is free.  You can sign up for something like Lynda.com where it’s $29 a month or something like that.  And they have tens of thousands of tutorials on everything from how to operate a DSLR camera, to how to upload a WordPress site, to how to use Excel to do whatever you want, how to use apps.  Everything.

Just bought by LinkedIn for $1.5 billion.  You don’t have to spend a lot of money to invest in you.  Now one of the best things is get yourself to a conference.  Why on earth would you want to go to a conference full of people you don’t know?  Exactly.

For the same reason that the other three, four, five hundred people that are there are doing.  They want to learn.  They want to learn something new, possibly meet people because the people who are at that conference are going to be just like you.  They’re going to have the same interests.

They’re going to have the same issues and you’ll be able to talk to them and you’ll suddenly find clarity because they can talk to you about the things that interest you that no one else cares about.  When you’re down in the pub and you want to talk to them about your hairdressing business, and they all have completely different jobs, they’re not interested.

But if you go to a conference full of hairdressers — wow.  You will be in heaven.  So invest in you. Do not worry about the expense.  It will pay back multi-fold.  Sometimes it’s going to be free – like with our training or very low price like with Lynda, but the more you learn, the better you’ll get.

Friendly Follow

123 LKR Laura RoederNow another one that gives out good training is our friendly follow this week.  So hope over to Twitter and follow the handle for @LKR.

This is Laura Rodder.  Now Laura is fabulous.  She’s great. she is so young and not only is she young, she looks younger.  But the thing I like about Laura, is that she learns, she’s very determined and she puts into practice and then she teaches it really well.

She’s got a great YouTube channel.  And all her social media, as you can imagine, is excellent.  So go follow Laura Rodder at LKR.  I think you’ll find LKR is her facebook and everything else as well.

But follow her across all sorts of social media, considering she teaches it for a living.  She’s very, very good.  I’ve learned a lot from Laura. And she’s just had a baby, as well by the way.  So ask her about her baby.  Ask her how she’s getting on.

She’s also the creator of “Meet Edgar“.  You’ll find all that out.  Go follow her.  Learn what she does.  Apply it to your business and grow.
