How to Multiply Your Effectiveness #251

15 November 2015 by

What work do you do and how effective are you? Are you a control freak or do you have the ability to see the bigger picture?

Let me give you an example. If you were going to start an airline, you would buy an airplane, hire your staff — pilots, ground crew, stewardesses.

But you don’t just get on with this one plane. Once you get this one going, you turn around and you buy another plane, hire another set of staff, and you keep going like this.

You just rinse and repeat. You keep doing the same thing. You don’t have to be involved with these either. You expand and hire good people to do the work.

Now this can apply to your business and marketing, and every part of your every day life.

For instance, if you are a carpenter, and you work on renovations of buildings, you can try to do all the work yourself, but you will wind up killing yourself in the process.

OR — you could hire a great team who can do that job while you work on another one. If that seems to be working, why not hire another team to work on another project while you work on another.

In your marketing, this applies as well.

In the system that I talk about, I share about making sure you have a website, and that you are writing good and new content all the time.

You need to be writing content for emails, for blog posts, for guest posts, and more. But you already have a job and adding all of this extra into your already busy life is exhausting. How do you get it done?

You can delegate it to someone on your staff, or you can outsource it to someone.

Perhaps you do enjoy writing, but you don’t have enough time to write like you want. Train others to write like you want them to and then have someone post for you every now and then to free up some of your time.

How about your social media?

This is a very busy and necessary topic. It is free and we need to be doing it, but who has the time? It is a commitment we need to make every single day.

Now, you can organize it to pre-schedule things, but work still needs to be done to get it organized. You constantly have to be producing new content for your social media sites.

Do you think you can do that? Do you think you could fit another 15 minutes in somewhere?

Would you rather delegate or outsource those social media or writing projects out to places like Fiverr, Odesk, Upwork.

They just need to be shown how you want it done. Don’t assume that they know already. You need to show them. They don’t really know how you want it done.

Now, check that it is being done properly. You have to do this every now and then to make sure it is getting done how you want.

By doing this you will be freeing up some of your time, but you are also providing an opportunity for someone else to learn how your systems work.

Work with those people. Don’t just think they will do it all for you.
