It is the Friday edition where I show you how to create a self-marketing company with a weekend challenge.
Now, while I wait for you to get a pen and piece of paper or a pencil and a pad I don’t mind. Because you like you to write these down not to use electronics because it sinks into the brain a bit better.
I’m very much into helping us in enjoy our business more. Now quite often we what would you say, “get in our own way”, so that’s the thing.
We are quite often, the barrier to our success. Now, what can we do about that?
Well there are ways to remove some of these barriers so this is the challenge for this weekend. Why don’t you just think about some of the things I’m going to say.
#1 You Need to Find Your Unique Ability: This is a Dan Sullivan thing. He is from Strategic Coach and he is a great guy.
You are fantastic at something and I’m talking in relation to your business. You also enjoy doing something as an entrepreneur, as a business person, and as a business owner, even a marketing team leader.
It’s quite likely that you do many tasks and there are probably quite a few that you shouldn’t be doing. There are some that you love and some that you push to the bottom of the parlor every day because you don’t like them at all;
Others that you love that you look forward to and you wish to have more of, and then there’s also things that only you can do.
Those my friend are all your unique abilities and those are the things you should be doing. So you need to find out what they are and the best way to do this is to keep track.
Just get a sheet of paper you don’t need any special form and just simply write them down all day long. Write down what you’ve just done such as I answered phone and spoke to customer, opened mail, etc.
You could say you wrote wrote blog post for one and a half hours. It’s not going to be like every five minutes.
You won’t have to spend a whole half day writing out a list. You’re going to find over a period of three or four days that you see a pattern of things coming out and you can rank things and you can figure out how much time you spend say opening the post, answering the phone to clients, etc. Should I be doing that?
Can someone else do that and then you can find the things that you do like doing and how little time you spend and how much. That’s how you find your unique ability.
#2 Devote a Portion of Your Week to Doing Just That: So for example say it is going out and meeting a client face to face to introduce the company.
Now this is something you love doing and meeting the clients. Therefore, you need to block out time when you’re going to be doing it.
You can call and find out the availability of your clients. Whatever the times you’ve blocked out, give them the option .
This will force you to do more of what you enjoy and it will help you find someone to do the stuff you don’t enjoy.
#3 Develop an Automated Marketing System: The reason I say that is because if you build an automated system where this happens on its own, then you can do the things you love.
Things happen while you’re out about why you’re out on that Wednesday afternoon meeting clients.
New customers will be appearing because you have a marketing system that’s automated this because she set it up It’s fantastic.
#4 Block Out Regular Free Time Away From Work: This is essential. Have you ever had a job or you know people who have had jobs, that go to work at nine o’clock in the morning and when they finish on average or say five o’clock six o’clock in the afternoon?
Then they go home and then they don’t work. And then the next day they go to work so they’re ready for nine o’clock again. And on weekends they don’t work and then Monday they go to work again.
And it doesn’t matter if they enjoy it or not they work and then they don’t work. Now you as a busines s owner and entrepreneur, do you have a delineated view where there are times of work free time?
When you sit there watching T.V. and the kids are running around you’re talking to kids and your kind of playing with the kids, but you have a laptop on your lap because it doesn’t matter because you can still talk to the kid.
Those kids just see dad or mom with a laptop on their lap. And that’s it as far as they’re concerned you are not engaged, you are doing something that you feel is more important than them.
That’s what they remember. Those kids are only young once and when they’re grown up that’s it. What about when they’re thirty years old and some you hear them asked?
How do you remember your parents? They say. “Oh well dad was always working his life is lovely.”
Great Dad was always on his phone always working. How do you feel about that? You cannot undo it.
Find some time you need free time you need to keep yourself your mind free as well.
#5 Create Goals That Take You Towards Your Success: One thing about success –only you can decide if you are successful because only you can decide what success means.
Other people can look at you and say he’s successful but they may say, “They don’t know the facts.”
You may say that you were planning on doing. I got a million dollars this year and I needed seven hundred thousand.
Next if I had a million then I regard myself a successful. You may think you are. Only you can decide if you are happy and if you’re successful.
Create goals that take you on a journey towards the right strategic goals. That each one moves you that bit closer to get to getting that.
#6 Measure Your Results: Do this every single month at the end of the month. Start the following month measure the results monthly and reward yourself.
Now, this will seem ridiculous but if you hit a target go out for a meal. Take someone out –someone from work or take your spouse out that way you can celebrate.
If your employees do well you quite often reward them. Who’s rewarding you? No one’s going to do it just you. Remember these tips.

That’s how I’m in Vancouver right now. One company that only operates in the U.K. They are all fast asleep and they’ve done all their stuff and it’s sold more than when I used to work there.
Because it’s all systemized following marketing systems and I take time out to look after me and I have got myself out of the way of my business.
So you can do that too. I’m removing the barriers to my success so it’s all down to me. You can do this too honestly It’s great fun.
