What I mean by that question is this — if you are going to meet a sales prospect or attend an event where you will meet clients, do you research them beforehand?
If someone has booked a call with you, how much time do you spend researching them? The reason you should is because a) you can and b) they are doing it to you.

Let’s start with the fact that you can. This is 2016. This is the middle of the year and things are moving along pretty quick. You have information galore at your fingertips so you need to take advantage of it.
And the first place you should start is Linkedin.
Linkedin is where people will put more information about their business and stuff here. You can see what kind of groups and people that they are linked to.
You can see what people you have in common such a good friend, then you can ask the friend in advance about this person.
You can also look them up on Twitter and go back into their past and see who they interact with and what information they put out.
Now of course, don’t act or sound like a stalker. Don’t go over the top. Don’t surprise them with all the information you know about them. That will make things awkward. Just find out things that will work out for your advantage.
For example, if you are a business coach, the customer will look you up. There is no way around that. They are going to want to know who is coaching them.
So you need to make sure you have an effective Linkedin profile. Make sure you have filled it out very, very effectively.
It will make it stand out. Make it look interesting.
They don’t want to see pictures of you drunk on a holiday with your friends or messing about. They want to see a serious person that they can do business with.
Consider what people will see when they look at your profile. Have your friends look it over and ask them what you can improve.
You really should separate your business and personal life if you really want to make an effective social media presence and profile.
Avoid the hot topics like politics, religion, sex, etc unless you want people to see you as a controversial person.
But– research things — people, location, and other things. Be prepared and use the tools that will help you know who you are approaching as a customer and make notes. Don’t just try to remember things.
